Website audit: what it should include and what it costs

A good website audit is not a list of a hundred warnings from an automated tool. It is a measured state, an order of fixes and a price for fixing them. What an audit should include, how to spot a weak one and what it costs with us.

Tablet showing a website audit: speed, a checklist and warnings

A website audit is a measurement that tells you what is stopping your website from finding customers and turning them into enquiries. A good audit has three parts: the measured state (not an estimate), the order in which to fix things, and an idea of what the fix will cost. If one of them is missing, you get a list of problems you cannot do anything with.

On the market you will find everything from automated tests that take a few seconds to multi-page reports from agencies. The price on its own says nothing. This article will help you compare what you get for it.

What should a website audit include?

A website audit should include speed measurement on mobile and desktop, technical SEO (titles, descriptions, headings, sitemap, robots.txt), readiness for AI search engines, structured data about the company, basic security and accessibility. Every finding should come with the measured value, the impact on the visitor and a fix procedure, ordered by severity.

Broken down by area:

Area What is checked
Speed loading on mobile, image sizes, content shifting while loading
SEO basics titles and descriptions, headings, image descriptions, sitemap, robots.txt, redirects
AI search engines access for AI crawlers, content without JavaScript, questions and answers, llms.txt
Company data structured data: name, address, contact, profiles
Technical HTTPS, outdated libraries with a known vulnerability, security headers, e-mail domain settings
Accessibility contrast, image descriptions, keyboard navigation
Trustworthiness visible contacts, terms and conditions, reviews, the company behind the site
For an e-shop product page, product data for Google, checkout on mobile

Not every website needs everything. A company site with five subpages does not have to worry about product data, whereas an e-shop must not skip mobile checkout.

How do you spot a weak audit?

  • Findings without a measured value. “The website is slow” is not a finding. “The homepage loads in X seconds on mobile, the largest image is Y MB” is a finding.
  • No order. A hundred warnings of the same colour leave you where you were. You need to know which three things to fix this week.
  • Generic advice copied from a guide. “Write quality content” applies to every website in the world, and that is why it will not help you.
  • No fix procedure. An audit should be written so that your web developer can take it and get to work without another meeting.
  • Ranking promises. Anyone who guarantees first place in Google or in ChatGPT after an audit is promising something outside their control.

We do not offer the preview as bait with a made-up score. If the tool cannot measure an area reliably, it says so and we look at the website manually. You will never get “everything is fine” just because the measurement failed.

What comes after the audit: fixes at a price agreed upfront

An audit only makes sense when the findings get fixed. You can hand them to your web developer; the PDF is written exactly for that. Or we fix them.

When fixing, we proceed like this:

  1. We go through the findings with you. First what works, then the critical and medium findings. Together we decide what makes sense to fix now and what can wait.
  2. We tell you the price before work starts. We quote the scope and amount based on the number and severity of the findings and on the website’s platform. On off-the-shelf platforms some things can be fixed faster; on a custom-built site or one with many plugins it is more work. We list implementation of fixes from €850 excl. VAT, smaller SEO adjustments in packages from €290.
  3. We fix and measure again. A follow-up measurement after deployment is part of it, so you can see the numbers have really moved.

If something comes up during the work that was not in the audit, we tell you upfront and with a price. Not only on the invoice.

When is an audit not enough?

An audit finds faults on an existing website. It will not tell you whether the website is built for the right customers and with the right offer. If the problem is that the website has no clear call to action or targets the wrong audience, fixing the technical findings will only help partly. For that, see the most common reasons company websites do not earn.

And conversely: when the audit shows that the website is worth rebuilding rather than fixing, we say so straight away. What a new website costs is covered in the article What a custom website costs.

How do you get started?

Run a free website audit (the tool is in Slovak). You enter the address, verify your phone with an SMS code and within a minute you see the score and the most important findings. If you want the full picture, you can order the full audit on the same page. And if you want to go through the findings right away, book a short call. If you prefer English, send us your address through the mini audit form and we will go through the website for you.
